Books. Books. Books.

I’ve always wanted my profession to revolve around writing somehow. I used to sit at the end of my driveway selling pictures and poems to passersby. Although, let me be real… I was probably 10 or 11 at the time and my Nana and Papo were my only customers. I didn’t care, I loved writing. Drawing, not so much but I needed some alliteration to go with my poetry. “Pictures & Poems” It was Perfect! It didn’t occur to me at the time that I could barely draw a stick figure. The same holds true today. I’m just not an artist.

I love books. Memoirs mostly, but give me a good recommendation and chances are I will read it. A few of my inspirations came from Talking As Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham and of course, Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. In Lauren’s book she talks about setting time aside each day to write. If you’re a writer, write something every day. It really resonated with me because I have written things and when the urge strikes I get to it, but the notion of writing something every single day, and setting aside a specific amount of time to do this, it just made sense to me. Coincidentally, when I finished Girl, Wash Your Face, I was at my infamous beach vacation where I had my first mommy meltdown, thus inspiring me to start this blog. The advice Rachel gives hits every level of life. Honestly, I was reading it and was saying, “yes, girl” about every 3 pages. If you haven’t read either book, grab them!
